ONC Report Features the Oregon POLST Registry
The Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) recently published "Electronic End-of-Life and Physician Orders for Life-Sustaining Treatment (POLST) Documentation Access through Health Information Exchange," which highlights Oregon as one of four states with a POLST registry.  We congratulate Dana Zive, MPH, Director, Oregon POLST Registry and the Registry Business Office staff for this significant accomplishment.
Counting POLST Form Completion Can Hinder Quality
Susan Tolle, MD, and Joan Teno, MD, MS, have published "Counting POLST Form Completion Can Hinder Quality" in a new Health Affairs Blog.  The article provides further background documentation of the reasons behind the POLST Policy Recommendation for Quality Measures, which cautions against counting POLST forms as a quality measure.  Click here to read the blog in Health Affairs.
